Describe
I was writing the date and the agenda on the board,
and some Ss were talking about a homework assignment they had. The
environment was great as the previous classes; the Ss were friendly as
always. The seating arrangement was in the horse shoe style, and the materials
that I used were worksheets for writing exercises, a chart for explaining the
grammar part (some and any; affirmative, negative and question form) and some
pictures for a story telling in the free activity.

At the beginning, I was under pressure since I had
to do it better than the second class. However; little by little, I felt more
comfortable. I saw that the Ss got what I explained.
I think that I explained as clear as possible the
use of some and any with examples, and the activities that I did in the
class.
Giving examples is something really important
because if Ss do not get the topic with just the grammar explanation; they
can get it through the examples.
When I asked the Ss, they answered in the way that I
was expecting. I could see that they were able to go to the next practice.
|
Based on what I already know about variety of
activities, I saw that the Ss were enjoying the activities.
Based on what I observed, I think students generally
got the explanation, and I could see it through the responses of the activities.
I believe that any and some is not something
difficult for the Ss because they made an effort for using them in the best
way.
|
So, in the future, I will be more relaxed. Sometimes,
I worry too much about the class and I don’t enjoy it.
In future lessons, I will apply variety of
activities since this really works for maintaining the Ss active all the
time.
The next time I teach this lesson, I will ask the Ss
to share the storytelling in pairs since I just asked some of them to pass to
the front because of the time.
In future experiences I will also include speaking
activities. I could see that the Ss always enjoy talking and sharing with
others.

Mely! Great job, and chart for teaching grammar are really important since they make your life easier, and help you to avoid writing a lot on the board and wasting time.
ResponderEliminarHi Meli! I notice that you did a good job in the class and let me tell you that I agree with you when you say that students like speaking activities. They enjoy when they practice the language with the parter or a group. So, it is important to include speaking activities so that they can improve and learn a little bit more about the English language. Congrats!!
