Describe
The students were writing a journal, and they were
sharing some ideas of it with their classmates, and I was preparing some
things for starting the class. The environment was really awesome! I loved
the way the students worked because they really seemed to be interested in
the class. The arrangement of the classroom was in the traditional way. I
used the marker for the warm up activity that was about guessing some
drawings. Then, I used a chart to
explain the new topic (passive voice with modals), worksheets for the
controlled and free activity. Also, I used some pictures, and I used the book
for the presentation of the topic.

I explain the grammar part that was passive voice
with modals, and I was worried because it is hard topic to teach. I tried to
explain as clear as I could. I think that they got what I explained, and
besides that, they already knew a little bit about the topic.
Passive voice is a hard topic, and I think that it
is because of the way that we have to use it. Also, the Ss have to have everything
clear about that topic for using it in the right way.
The explanation of the grammar part is important because
it is the moment in which the Ss clarify their doubts.
If the grammar part is well explained, the Ss will
not feel the exercises very difficult.
|
Based on what I already know about speaking
activities, I think that the English Advanced Ss really like to speak. I
could notice that they really take advantage of speaking activities when they
put into practice that skill.
Based on what I observed, I think students generally
practice the passive voice with modals in the exercises.
I believe that speaking activities can help students
learning because they not only practice the structure in the written form but
also they practice the new vocabulary that is given.
|
So, in the future, I will assign some exercises in
groups since they really like to work with their classmates.
In future lessons, I will be careful with the
presentation because I was nervous, and I forgot to do it after the warm up.
The next time I teach this lesson, I will do
activities in which they have to be more active.
In future experiences I will also include listening
activities.

Hi Mely! I think you did a great job explaining the passive voice. I know it is a difficult topic but I believe that students understood the topic very well. This group of Advanced English I is awesome because they are very participative and pay attention when the teacher are giving instructions. Good job Mely!
ResponderEliminarHello Mely! I know that passive voice with modals is a hard topic to teach, but I think your job was great. And as you mentioned, speaking activites are necesary to make students practice their English, and help a lot, not only for you to avoid too much teacher talking time, but also to make students improve the speaking skill,
