Second teaching practicum

Describe
When I arrived to the class, I saw that the students were focus on a reading. I could notice that when I developed the warm up, They really enjoyed it because I could see in their faces that they had a good time. The enviroment was completelly different since the first class, and I was happy of that change. Moreover; They participated more. although some people still being shy, I saw others that unwrapped in the second class. I used some pictures, worksheets, and a role-play situation since it was a review. The teacher told me that she wanted them to practice reported speech.

I think that role plays are good activities for the students because I could see that they really enjoyed writing their situations. Also, students not only use their own and new vocabulary but also they have the chance to speak that is something they really like.

However; I think that some students are a little bit shy since they have to speak in front of others. two girls were working together, and I asked them if they were prepare to perform it and one of them answer yes and the other one said no. I think that sometimes one person stops the other one that wants to participate.

I think that is important to let them know  they can do it, They have the ability to speak and to make mistakes is part of their learning process.

To speak in front of their classmates will help them in the future. We can be in fifth year, but ifwe are afraid of speaking with others the target language, they will notice that, and for me that looks terrible.

Based on what I already know about reported speech I think that it's a good idea to make a lot of activities in order to make them feel more familiar with the topic. I saw that when I asked them to do the role-play, They used some ideas that I gave them in a controlled activity. They used that activity like a guide or a model. I used to do it when I was in intermediate and now, I can say that it helped me.

Based on what I observed, I think students generally know how to use reported speech because everyone did a good job in the activities that I asked them to do.

I believe that speaking activities can help student learning because they put in practice the vocabulary they had before, and also, new words for them. I saw that they used some words that I wrote in their role play situations, and it was amazing.

So, in the future, I will give them more time for creating their dialogues because I felt that time flew, and they needed more.

In future lessons I will asked them to work with different people because I am sure that they always work with the same folks. Sometimes, it is better to work with different people since some of them push the others to work or perform their work

The next time I teach this lesson, I will use speaking activities. students really feel free when they are writing their conversations.

In future experiences I will also include charts. Although it was a review, I think that I needed a chart to make their ideas clearest.

FIRST TEACHING PRACTICUM "2°PERIOD"

Describe
In my first teaching practicum in Intermediate II, the students were looking at me maybe because it was my first time in front of them. I heard from different classmates that sometimes it is really difficult to work with students of the major, and I was a little bit aware of that. I had to teach grammar about reported speech, and I had to work harder because It had to be related with natural disasters vocabulary. However, I did not now that it was going to be a little bit difficult to make them participate since they are very shy, especially girls. The enviroment was good, but I think that they were quiet because it was the first time they saw me. I used a chart , some worksheets, the board, and some visual aids. For being the first time, I made a big effort, and it was not really bad at all because they really got what I taught, and in the exercises, they did not have problems.

I was aware that working with Intermediate II students was going to be difficult because the majority of them were shy, and it was really difficult for me since I am a practitioner and not the teacher.

I think that the time influences in their enthusiasm because maybe some of them were sleepless. In fact, One student told me that he was very tired because he had to work late the last day. Moreover, I think that speaking activities can be helpful since they have to be active.

It's important to make them practice because English is not just about writting. They have to practice the vocabulary, and I could notice that they were really afraid of speak or express their opinions.

It is very helpful because they will be able to being more secure when speaking. Also, they will not feel afraid of participate.

Based on what I already know about reported speech, I think that teachers have to be very careful with the grammar explanation for making them understand, explain them step by step and be patient because reported speech is not easy to explain.

Based on what I observed, I think students generally got the explanation that I gave I could notice that they worked in the activities, and they did not have problems with them.

I believe that it is really good being clear in the grammar explanation because it helps  student learning. I think that it is better to go to the point instead of going around the branches.

So, in the future, I will look for more activities in order to make them speak and make them feel more confident in giving their opinions.

In future lessons I will apply some tips or strategies for making them participate.

The next time I teach this lesson, I will give them less vocabulary because I think I gave them too much.

In future experiences, I will also include more explanation about grammar, and add  printable examples.

MY THIRD TEACHING PRACTICUM.

Describe
When I entered to the classroom, I saw that some students were a little bit tired, and some of them were decorating a magazine. I started the class when I made the warm up activity, I saw some of them that were happy of going out. I had to make a review of the previous classes. I asked them to form a circle and play the hot potato, and in the penalty, they had to tell me one sentence using might, must or will be able to. I really like the enviroment in Englsh Access because I could realize in these classes that they really like to learn. The classroom was in the horse shoe style for the space. In the controlled activity I used a worksheet in which they had to fill in the blanks writing "be able to" and the modal "might." In the second activity, I used some flashcards. They had to write suggestions using the modal "must". Finally, I gave them a paper which contained some diseases. They stood up, and talk with their classmates about those topics.

I could realize that when I have a lot of students, I have to do different kinds of activities in order to make the class enjoyable. Moreover, try to make them participate in all the activities.

In order to involve all the students, teachers have to make pairs o groups in order to make all the students participate.

Sometimes, when teachers make students to work alone, the majority of them want to participate, and some of them are not able to do it. Group work is something important to involve all of them.

This helps them to socialize with other classmates, and not being out of the activities.

Based on what I already know about modals, I think that some students could be a little bit confused since some of these modals mean the same thing or are very similar.

Based on what I observed, I think students got the differences and the meaning of these modals. They were working in the correct way, they really were interested in doing their exercises correctly.

I believe that speaking activities and some exercises help the students to use their new vocabulary. This helps them not being so focus on grammar because they may feel stressed

So, in the future, I will make them to work in groups in order to involve every student in the activities.

In future lessons, I will be more creative and enthusiastic in order to make them feel more comfortable. Also, I will give them the instructions step by step.

The next time I teach this lesson, I will give them a reading because I could notice that they like to speak and share what they know, and share their own experiences.

In future experiences, I will also include extra activities because in my last class, I was worried since I had a few of them.

Describe
When I started the class, students were very active. They really are talkative people. Then, when i developed the warm up called jump in jump out, they were having fun. I had more confidence than before. The enviroment is really good. It made me feel free. Also, the student's attitude encouraged me to not being afraid of develope the activities. After that, I explained the grammar part of "be able to" and "might." I use charts to explain them, and Igave them some extra vocabulary aside they had in the book. Then, I told them to turn the vocabulary down. Next, I asked about what they remembered of some words and they started to answer me and that was a great! Moreover, I developed the controlled activity, and they did it really fast. By the way, they really like to participate anwering the questions on the worksheets. In the free activity they had to perform a dialogue in pairs. One had to be the doctor, and the other the patient. Altough it was difficult for me to make a connection between be able to and might with medical vocabulary, students were happy of practicing their conversation.

I was happy to see the students motivated. I really like their participation because it means that they have undertood what we were studying. I made speaking activities and that helped them to put in practice the new vocabulary I gave them.

The speaking activities helped them to practice what is new for them. I could notice that those activities also help us to know if they're significant learning for them.

It´s important since students are able to speak and they need to exploit that ability. If they are good at speaking they will be able to learn vocabulary because that is what they like.

In the future, students are not going to be afraid of speaking or make mistakes. They will feel secure of what they are saying.

Based on what I already know about speaking activities, I think that they help students to express their opinions or ideas without fear .

Based on what I observed, I think students got really excited when they sspeak. They laughed and had fun.

I believe that being focus just in writting activities can hinder student learning because the majority of them are more interested in learnig new words and put them in to practice, but if they feel bounded in just learning grammatical rules, they will feel listless of learning new things.

So, in the future, I will find an speaking activty in which students can practice some grammatical structures. They can understand better by speaking than just writting.

In future lessons I will let students to speak voluntarily and not just choosing the people that seem to be talkative.

The next time I teach this lesson, I will look an activity which match better with the topics.

In future experiences I will also include a long free activity. They can speak, but sometimes the time flies and I have to calculate it better.
